Gratitude Vietnam
Gratitude Vietnam was the first physical home of Gratitude: an intimate retreat venue in Hoi An, Vietnam, created by Naomi and Hannah in 2019.
It was designed as a place of rest, reflection and reconnection - earthy, welcoming, thoughtful and quietly beautiful. More than a retreat venue, it became a home-from-home for guests, practitioners and retreat leaders seeking space to pause, breathe, learn and heal.
How it began
Naomi and Hannah met while working as teachers in Hong Kong and shared a deep interest in education, wellbeing, creativity, travel and holistic practice. After years of living and working in Asia, they created Gratitude Vietnam as a space where hospitality, mindful practice and genuine care could come together.
The retreat was based in Hoi An, surrounded by gardens, local life, quiet streets, the colours of the ancient town and the slower rhythms of island living.
What we offered
Gratitude Vietnam hosted yoga and meditation retreats, Reiki training, sound healing, personal reflection, mindful workshops, bespoke retreats and space for visiting facilitators.
The work was grounded in a simple intention: to create a safe, nurturing and non-judgemental environment where people could rest, reconnect with themselves and return to daily life with more clarity, compassion and steadiness.
What made it special
Guests often spoke about the same qualities: the feeling of being welcomed, the attention to detail, the food, the peaceful rooms, the garden, the yoga shala, the meditation space, the sense of safety and the care woven through everything.
Gratitude Vietnam was not about luxury for its own sake. It was about warmth, beauty, nourishment, simplicity and the feeling of being deeply considered.
Why this site remains
The Hoi An retreat closed after the pandemic and the changes that followed. This site now remains as an archive of that chapter: a record of the space, the people, the practices, the testimonials and the lessons that continue to shape the wider Gratitude journey.
Gratitude Vietnam was where the retreat vision first became real. Gratitude Costa Rica is where that vision is now beginning to evolve.
With gratitude for everyone who visited, supported, practised, taught, cooked, rested, laughed, cried, healed and helped make the Vietnam chapter what it was.
“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.”
Henri Frederic Amiel
